Amen/Word
Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God…

Our Mission
Our mission is to present the Christian gospel in a setting that appeals to both those individuals who are confessed Christians as well as those who are considered unchurched. The Hip Hop Church is worship and scriptural study. The Hip Hop Church is outreach to the disenfranchised, the brokenhearted, the oppressed and those considered "disposable" by the larger society. Our worship services follow an order of service consistent with many African-American churches, while always allowing the Holy Spirit to have full reign. "Hip Hop is the culture, while Jesus is the Center." Services are currently being held each Thursday night at Greater Hood Memorial AME Zion Church, located at 160 West 146 th Street, NYC at 6:00 PM. The Hip Hop Church Choir and Several of the Rappers also minister at Friday Night FLAYVA Worship Services in the greater New York area. Please log on to www.luke418.orgfor more info. The Choir and Ministers are available to travel within the greater New York area. [continued ]
The Hip Hop Church is Here!!! In the spirit of the announced ministry of Jesus Christ (Luke 4:18) and in the Spirit of Paul’s calling to minister to all men, women, boys and girls (I Corinthians 9:19-22), we are presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the contemporary culture of the Hip Hop Generation. Our goal is to bring young men and women to Christ, no matter how they may seem to the outside world. Rev. Stephen Pogue, Pastor of Greater Hood Memorial AME Zion, says "Just because (young people) wear clothes a certain way doesn't mean they are the way they look. They can still follow a lifestyle of holiness, of trying to be right and righteous. They want to be able to listen to the music they want to listen to and still say 'There's nothing wrong with me.'"
We minister to God’s People presenting a viable option to the profanity, misogyny, violence and foolishness that most of us are force-fed daily. We encourage the members of the Hip Hop Church to sing, dance and express themselves in any way that the Spirit of God moves them. We honor straight A students, students who have overcome adversity, community leaders, church leaders and some of the unsung pioneers of Hip Hop each week, in line with the biblical admonishment to “Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor (Romans 12:10).”
When our brother, Hip Hop Pioneer Kurtis Blow says “Don’t get it twisted, God has always existed”, he sends a clear message to those who may doubt the power of this Spirit-Led worship and fellowship: Jesus Christ, First and always. As for those “haters” who doubt the anointing God has on this ministry, we tell you as Philip told Nathaniel in John 1:46. Nathaniel asked if any good thing could come out of Nazareth (Hip Hop). We say “Come and See.” [ go to calendar ]
